We’ve been pleasantly surprised by the overwhelmingly positive reception of Orbit, our first true wireless earphone. We’ve been in close communication with you, our customers, regarding your experience with Orbit and have been overall very pleased with the experiences we’ve seen.
We have received some great feedback regarding minor bugs and other quality-of-life issues that we will address via App updates in the coming weeks.
We will address the recent change that broke the ‘double tap to advance’ function when using Apple Music and Moov apps. All other touch functions continue to operate correctly in these apps. The ‘double tap to advance track’ touch function works as expected for the Spotify, Tidal, and Amazon Music apps.
We will also update the label names for the EQ default settings. The app’s ‘device battery life query’ function will see an improvement. And other minor connectivity issues will also be addressed.
One area where we have yet to have such consistently positive feedback is Qualcomm’s AptX Adaptive codec support for some devices and apps. While initially confirmed during our product development and testing, real-world usage differed from what we had hoped.
Due to the inconsistent experiences reported by a small group of trusted customers and dealers, we have decided to remove AptX Adaptive support from Orbit’s list of officially supported codecs for now.
Our expectation matches our customers in that a codec will work consistently across devices and applications if officially supported. If you buy Orbit for specific codec support, we want you to make that selection confidently. Right now, AptX Adaptive performance is not where we want it to be on Orbit, and we must be attentive and transparent about this issue.
We continue exploring solutions for more robust devices and codec support, but this development takes time and extensive testing to reach the bar we have set for ourselves. Please note that SBC, AAC, and AptX codecs function as expected on supported devices.
We are disappointed that these issues arose, but devices with firmware can be updated, and we expect that most issues that have been reported to us can be resolved with a firmware update. Our priority is fixing these bugs as efficiently and as promptly as possible. We expect fixes for these in the next 3-4 weeks.
