Polarity Tuned Chamber™

Campfire Audio is proud to introduce a new innovation to our dynamic driver design; Polarity Tuned Chamber™

3D printed tuned chambers in front and behind the driver allow us to optimize the performance of our dynamic driver. This opens up the sound and gives the driver an effortless power that must be heard to be appreciated.

3D Printed Spout

Printed and hand polished in our Portland, Oregon workshop. The printed design allowed us to hit the sonic bulls-eye we aimed for with this design.

Precise control of the placement and volume of internal chambers of the 3D printed spout adds a special quality to the sound that we could not have otherwise acheived.

Cerakote™ Lid + Anodized Body

The rugged durability of Cerakote™ meets the brilliant blue of anodized shell. A pairing that is both visually striking and able to stand up to the rigour of daily use.

Soaring High with T.A.E.C.

A single high frequency balanced armature driver discards a traditional ‘tube & damper’ tuning system for our new Tuned Acoustic Expansion Chamber™ (TAEC).

A 3-D printed chamber provides the acoustic tuning without compression. As a result, high frequencies are extended and open, providing an unmatched sonic quality unique to Campfire Audio earphones.

What People Are Saying…

Highlights

Dual Finish

Polaris is designed to combine 2 excellenct finishes; a Cerakote Lid and Anodized Body. This visually striking combination is as durable as it is good looking.

Superior MMCX

Our custom Beryllium Copper MMCX eliminates the traditional shortcomings of the connection and harnesses all of its benefits. Beryllium Copper provides a robust mating mechanism; one that is typically made from soft brass. This selection of a harder material extends the life of component and the earphone.

Individually Inspected

Close attention to detail is critical to delivering you the superior musical experience from our earphones. We test and pair each individual earphone, Left and Right, to establish its conformity to our firmly established tuning and performance criteria. The result is a pair of earphones made for each other that you can feel good about.

Incredible IEMs. I’ve had these for 6 months now and I listen to them for several hours a day. The sound is breathtaking. Just the right amount of everything.Base is solid without being boomy. Mids are perfect.
If you have read the reviews online, like I did, you will be misled. Most of those reviews are written by people who spend a minimal amount of time with these. Then hastily write a review to get their words in print.
This is my take on these.
When I first got these. I thought they were very sharp, to the point they hurt my ears, and had insufficient base. Since I dropped $700 Canadian on these. I decided to learn to love them. After about 100 hours of listening to music, they came alive. I’m guessing they needed a burn in. The sharps mellowed our and the base can alive. I pretty much live with these in.
When I travel I even sleep with them in an listen to rain falling. They are super comfortable and offer great separation and detail. Only thing I noted is that if I wear them at -40C they act as a heat sink and freeze my ears. So I wear a toque with them. I was going to sell these and buy the andromedas but honestly I can’t imagine they could be much better. These are by far the best ear buds I ever heard. Love these and if I lost them. I’d buy the same ones again. Can’t say enough good things about these. Buy them. Value for money is a no brainer.
I listen to all genres of music. It all sounds good. If it doesn’t it’s because the source sucks.

I took a flyer on these and bought a pair from “B-stock. Like so many others have reported, I failed to find ANY cosmetic defect whatsoever, which gives me great confidence in CFA’s quality control.

I liked these so well right out of the box that in short order I ordered a set of the Vega model. I’m still in the process of ‘breaking those in.’

Polaris Pros: Most important, the sound quality is exceptional. They are plenty good immediately, but got even better after a rather lengthy break-in period of over 200 hours.

I did some of the burn-in on a tube amplifier (Icon Audio HP8) and was disappointed in the sound. However, last night I tried them on another – the Dark Voice SE 336 with vintage RCA tubes – and the sound was spectacular, that kind of magical “it factor” you come across now and again. Just wow. These do sound good out of more prosaic gear, such as the Schiit Fulla 2 that I use most often at my desk.

The sound is natural and organic, and it scales wonderfully. The better the digital sound file and amplifier, the better they sound. I do not hear any harshness, glare or hot spots, which comforts me as treble-sensitivity to brighter earphones is my biggest concern, usually.

I will also say something I’ve heard of but never experienced before (I have about 200 pairs of earphones of all price ranges): I heard things in my music I never noticed before. In fact, I’ve gone to other very good earphones and listened, now knowing what to listen for, and the details are not as noticeable. And when I say details, I’m not talking about clinical, analytical harshness, but musical elements such as distinct instruments and certain studio background things. Not distracting in the least – just the opposite. Adds a good measure of life and air to the music. Sweet and musical.

The comfort and fit are very good as well.

Polaris Niggles: Number one is I have to say the driver flex is more pronounced than any other IEM I own. I had heard the term but never knew what it meant till now. I adjust the seal in my ear from time to time, more out of habit than need, and each time I do I hear the flexing.

Second, if you read the reviews, the lower mids are sucked out or recessed a bit, so that deeper male voices (Johnny Cash) sound a bit telephonic. I might not have been so quick to notice this if I hadn’t read about it. It’s there, but not terribly bothersome unless you focus on it.

Third, and these are REALLY nit-picky, the memory wire on the very good cables doesn’t hold it’s shape as well as I’d like, and the chin slider doesn’t move as smoothly as I’d like.

Overall: The sound quality trumps these niggles. So far, I like these better than the Vegas, but those are still being broken in and I’m trying out different ear tips, etc. I’ve not had the magical “it factor” from IEM’s like this before. Well worth the price of admission and serves as a gateway drug to the addictive Campfire family.

I have had these for three days. I am breaking them in now; so I hope to add to this review later. Not much more can be added to the acclamation. So I will offer my initial subjective response. I am giddy. I am very satisfied to own this American product. I hope to add a Vega too.
