Insides that Count
Driver count has never been as especially important to our designs as the proper selection and implementation of particular drivers. When using more than a single driver, it is as much about the synergy between drivers as it is about any one particular driver.
Staying true to the Campfire Audio design philosophy “Less is More” and using fewer, higher quality components is ideal to achieve a more a musical presentation.
Using an oversized woofer BA as a foundation and then pairing that with a small tweeter, IO came together. Our Tuned Acoustic Expansion Chamber (T.A.E.C.™) provides that natural and open top-end extension people have come to expect from Campfire Audio earphones.

My first CA purchase and it won’t be the last! From the packaging and build quality to the the luxurious accessories; it all screams QUALITY!
Sonically, these are definition of clarity. That have a fairly reference tuning with ever so slightly forward mids. They’re super comfortable (I’ve been wearing them all day at work), and the signature is non fatiguing. If I were nitpicking, a little more heft in the sun bass wouldn’t go amiss. Al in all though – these are an absolute steal at this price point.

Package is first class, from the light wire to the earphones. They are very comfortable ans isolation is very good. Sonically fabulous mids and highs. The bass is just right. They have become my reference. For the price you just can’t go wrong. To top it off valuable warranty.

Solid design. Neutral-to-brightness signature: great clarity and details, slightly forward mids, and very nice Andromeda-like textured bass. Very afordable.

Honestly i was skeptical when i read reviews online. I thought they would be bland and boring with no bass, however i was proven wrong. This headphones are an amazing value.World class accessories and premium craftsmanship. The sound is amazing. It very well competes in par with headphones for over 1k in terms of detail. The bass is there and compliments nicely without compromising. The highs and the soundstage is truly amazing for the price. I would also like to point out that the problems with the midrange are there but quite minimal. There’s headphones over 1k that don’t even get the treble right so, really they are well rounded. Every genre sounds good with them.

Superior sound tuning at this price point, excellent!!

I am kind of supriced that many reviews that IO is an excellent IEM. Well, the design and building are actaully pretty good, yet, its sound signiture is too unique for me to appreciate. The base is soft and deep, the high is clear and detail, the problem is on the mid, which is too week and sounds like hidding behind the base, which makes the spunds very odd for most kinds of musics. This problem is actuually happened before in the Jupiter, I guess that’s why you add an additional mid driver to make it bacomes the top seller andromeda.

Good Quality. Very clear. The finish is beautiful. These aren’t for deep bassheads who crave a hard hitting sub-bass i.e. Hip-Hop or “The Rap Musics” but even some of that is quite good. I have enjoyed rock, classical, jazz, quite a lot. A headphone amp helps a bit since they are 26ohm. Lots of critics say something is off with the mids but I like the presentation. For $300 you can’t expect Andromeda and they are made here in the USA.

The long and short is that these IEMs are amazing! I purchased them from headphones.com
A disclaimer first: This is my first venture into High-End IEMs, and I’m coming from Bluetooth PowerBeats3 buds.
Music I Listen To: Bassnectar, Florence and the Machine, The Lumineers, Slipknot, Eminem, Shakey Graves, Apes of the State.
Device I’m using to power these IEMs: Samsung Galaxy S8 (Qualcomm variant) without a DAC.
Alright, now that you have a “floor” of my setup and experience, let’s jump in! I spent two weeks obsessively researching IEMs. I started looking at cheap ones from Anker that were Bluetooth. After reading up on them and realizing that Bluetooth isn’t going to be 100% reliable, I gave up the heavy desire for wireless headphones.
The next phase of this story is a doozy: I almost regretted venturing into wired IEM territory because EVERYONE has a different opinion about every IEM! Being someone that appreciates quality and wanted to invest in such, I found it hard to get a grasp on the review market.
What turned me on to the IO was that it was a moderately affordable IEM that was made locally in Portland, OR, where I live. What turned me off, were the endless bashings of that mid-frequency dip that the IO had. I couldn’t justify the price of the Polaris v2, so I started looking at other IEMs. The appeal of the IO (glamour included, these are sexy) ultimately won me over.
In general, I like to think of myself as a basshead. So when people said these were clean and tight but light on the bass, it didn’t make sense. After giving them a listen, they are perfect. They don’t rattle my eardrums, but I can hear/slightly feel the rumble from basslines in music like Bassnectar or Slipknot. The key thing for me here is what I think people call sound stage. I could pick out instruments in the very aggressive mashing of Slipknot. I could hear instruments trading off the left and right channels. I could hear the vocals above the instruments.
Let’s talk vocals for a second, because that is part of the range where this “dramatic dip” in the frequency response is occurring. Yes, there are moments where vocals sound faint (especially female), but the dip in response adds a bit of dramatic effect in my opinion. I like it! There is some sibilance with artists like Florence and the Machine, but it isn’t piercing, and it is quickly rectified.
The highs were another complaint I heard about. While I am a basshead, I have a vast appreciation for detail in the mids and highs. The pop of the snare, the glitter of cymbals, the oscillation of a voice in the high octaves. It all adds to the dramatic effect of music. And these IEMs present well in that regard.
I am using the foam tips (size smaller than were mounted upon arrival), and while I do get some ear canal fatigue (especially with the advent of coronavirus and listening to music/meetings much more often), I can adjust the positioning and carry on. The weight of the IEMs isn’t noticeable, though they feel very solid in the hand. The cable is awesome, the connector is reinforced, and all the bags and accessories that come with the IEMs seal the deal.
If you want to support local, appreciate detail in music, and like bass, but don’t need a brain rattler, get the IO!

Love the design! My first purchase, there will be more!Mixed reviews online but I love them!

These are a fairly neutral to bright Iem. They do really well in detail retrieval and have a fairly wide soundstage. The mids can be somewhat strange at times but a swap of the tips can help keep things correct. Cable is fairly nice though I wish they gave the option of sending their Iems with a balanced cable since it costs the same as the 3.5mm version. There isn’t much of a sub bass presence but the mid bass hits well. Good job to the team at campfire.

Amazing entry into the Campfire world. I love having these at work. Extremely lightweight. Bass is not impactful but present. Love the care and detail taken to the entry level iem. Only regret is purchasing before the sale! For $250 you will not find a better presented, more fun experience, or hand made product of this quality, with a wide stage and easy to listen tuning.

Very relaxing sound, love the smooth bass and the spacious soundstage. Great moon and headphone!

The “IO” is a rare and special IEM. Why? The sonic quality is fabulous; a tight and well-defined low end, a mid-range clarity that is alive and accurate and the high end is perfectly articulate. Brushes on cymbals, purity of the triangle ring and the faint perfect pitch chimes have incredible passion. The IO’s are perfectly tuned, alive and flat throughout all octaves. Take the song you know so well . . . you will likely hear a note(s) you have not heard, and instruments that are subtlety real and exactly as you know live. You are enveloped within the music. You are there. Blown away. This surprise continues to improve, as you wonder how it could get better. The spatial imagery is superb. 1st violin – you can pinpoint the seat. The definition is so good, I want to write the CA Team a daily thank you note. Whatever the genre, I am blown away. The IO’s stand up against any IEM in CA’s line-up. Everything CA does is consistently the standard of reference for the industry – the IO is the same.

Not what I expected, tinny sound.Using a DAC with these, sound no better than cheap earbuds.

Love the IO, they sound superb. The reviews I’ve read don’t do justice to this little gems, they sound impactful, and very musical with any kind of music, just give them some time to burn in, and you’ll be happy with this iems. Ken Ball did it again.
